Chapel Sunset

A pair of sprightly blooms

During the early 1970’s, we lived next door to an elderly woman who loved to garden.  She would spend all day  down on her knees tending her rather simple but perfectly neat, long oval garden bed in her yard with its trellis entrance.

She also had houseplants, and she shared one with me that she called “Chapel Sunset.”  I’ve tended and nurtured this plant (and its offspring) for all these years and several moves, and have at least two of them growing at all times.

Flowers make even a snowy winter day brighter.

The flowers are simple, but wave like blue flags; they glow in the sunshine, even on a winter day.
