A Summer Day

Yesterday, midday, I took my lunch out to our deck to enjoy the shade of  our “tent” —   a large deck umbrella we often open up during the hottest part of the day to shade our back door and reduce the heat from  the glass in the house.  Add a slight breeze to the shade and it’s an ideal place to enjoy lunch or a few minutes of meditation.

We have new neighbors with a young child, a boy, I think, and apparently they had company,  as I could hear  children participating in a game of  “tag,” counting, “56, 57, 58…” — something I haven’t heard kids playing in quite awhile.  My lunch time turned into writing time, and a  simple haiku to share.

sunshiny sunday

children playing hide ‘n seek

joyful happy shouts
